Timestamp challenge codes

Challenge records show requested challenge details only. They do not authenticate a watch, verify ownership, verify seller identity, confirm condition, or prevent fraud.

Watch Sale Prep issues a challenge code and a required watch time. Share the code with the seller or buyer as plain text (not only a link). Compare the seller's photo to the code and time on file. Paid plan access does not make the record verified or protected.

For my listing

Generate a code for your own listing or notes. Nothing you enter here is shown on the public lookup page.

Why this exists

Timestamp photos can be edited or staged. A site-issued challenge code adds a fixed set of parameters you can compare to a photo yourself. It is optional context only — not a substitute for your own review of the watch, seller, payment method, and deal terms.

The code and required watch time are generated here — not chosen by the seller — so you can line them up with the photo before you pay. Challenge records show requested challenge details only. They do not authenticate a watch, verify ownership, verify seller identity, confirm condition, or prevent fraud.

How sellers should use it
1. Generate a code in this tool (or from your listing prep flow). 2. Handwrite username, date, and the challenge code on paper — a regular sheet is fine. 3. Set the physical watch to the required time (do not only write the time on paper). 4. Photograph the watch with the handwritten note. 5. Send the photo the same way you normally send timestamp images. Follow your community’s normal timestamp rules first. This is an extra signal, not a replacement.
How buyers should check it
Compare the photo to this site’s record: Watch — Is the watch face set to the required time from this record? Code — Does the handwriting show this exact challenge code? Username — Does the handwriting match the seller? Date — Does the handwriting satisfy the community’s date rules? Watch match — Does the watch match the listing photos? Deal — Do payment, shipping, and seller behavior still look sensible?
FAQ

Is this required by r/Watchexchange?
No. Follow the community’s current timestamp rules first. This is optional.

Should buyers trust a listing just because it has a code?
No. It is only one signal. Buyers should still check photos, history, payment method, and deal terms.
